So much for spontaneity. We tried to go here, but it turned out to be a guided tour that would take several hours by the time we were done waiting and listening and marveling at the mystery of it all. We took a vote and decided that getting to California PDQ was our #1 priority. So the Oregon Vortex will have to wait to meet the Golden Vortex until we're on our way home. Ooh...spooky things to look forward to.
So, other than that brief attempt at a detour, we spent a lot of time in the car.
We made it to Sacramento and stayed in the region's crummiest Red Lion Hotel with the s-l-o-w-e-s-t internet connection. EVER. (Word to the wise, the Hilton across the street looked MUCH nicer.) But who cares? We're off to San Francisco!

I love the House of Mystery. I am totally looking forward to taking the kids there, as soon as I come to terms with the idea of road tripping with four children.
I sent you a present hoping you'd get it before you left. I guess you didn't. rats. : (
it would've made all the difference in the level of joy of your trip.
now you'll have to wait til you're back. but it will still increase the level of joy of your life. ;)
