Homeschool Goth Day

Our local homeschool group had the coolest teen event on Monday. One of the moms organized it (you rock Iris!) and hosted it at her house. They all dressed in the clothes of whatever persona they wanted to adopt for the day. Qacei and her friends chose Goth. Then Iris helped them with their makeup and an unschooled teen, Laurel, did a photoshoot with amazing results. I just adore this picture of Qacei. With her dark eyes and naturally pale skin, she seems a perfect canvas for the Goth look. Here's one of Bekka's pictures to the right. She has a beautiful, haunting look with her light hair and black makeup. You'd never know that these are happy, friendly, quite often giggling unschoolers. They've got so much attitude here! I think it's healthy for kids to try out new and different personas. As long as we appreciate them for Who They Are, they can try things out while still remaining true to themselves. I got to drive a whole buch of the kids home from the photoshoot. I'm sure we looked like quite an odd carload. But what a priviledge to be around such a fun and interesting group of people.

I can attest to the truly fun and happy nature of these two wonderful girls, since I had the privilege of sharing a dinner table with them last Sat. at the conference. They are also quite talented at spoon balancing too! :) Those pictures are really cool. What a fun thing to do! Thanks for sharing.

I think Goth is so beautiful. The pic on the top, of your daughter with the red hair, is awesome.

A day doesn't go by that my girls don't want to dress up (3 & 7). Hope they are still doing it as teens as well. Those are some cool pictures.

I wondered where you got the pics done..they're gorgeous. Qacei looks SO much older in the goth makeup, I hardly recognized her. Very cool!
